14 November

Everyone who has attended Kapa Haka this year was invited to come from 1.30 to 2pm today so we could rehearse for the Grandparents Day concert. (We had a mufti day this week which is everyone is out of school uniform)

The Kapa Haka group will be performing at the Grandparents Day concert in the school hall at approximately 11am on Friday 15 November. The Grandparents Day Mass is at 9.15am and then the grandparents will have morning tea, with a concert to follow. It's always a special morning so come and join us. Friends and extended family welcome as well.

We have a big group of students ( mainly Year 5 and 6) performing in the Rotorua Festival which takes place during the week 25-29 November. Two sessions are held each evening, with different schools performing in each session. Each school only performs once. Our group lead by Koro Tini will be performing on Monday 25 November in the session which starts at 7.30pm. Tickets are on sale now and provide entry just to that session ($6 per person). Ticket order forms have been issued - if you have not seen one and want tickets there are extra forms at the school office. Last day for ticket orders is Wednesday 20 November.

Those performing on 25 November will be expected to go home after school and be back at the school hall at 6pm, to get dressed and prepared. Please make sure that students have had an early dinner before they come back to school. The students will then be taken to the Civic Theatre at the Convention Centre. Could students please wear their school uniform to school at 6pm ( boys please make sure you wear black undies as well!). Bring a named plastic bag for the school uniform to go in - as students will need to get changed into it after the performance. Make sure hair is clean, neat and tidy, that there is no nail polish and that students are well presented. If girls have their own black lipstick they should put it on at home and wear it when they come to school at 6pm - but please do not bring the lipstick to school. Last year we had some girls bring their lipstick down to the Convention Centre and we would request that this doesn't happen this year. Students need to be picked up at the Convention Centre at the conclusion of the evening session.

The Ahurei girls have been issued with a poi so they can practise at home. See the video below for what they need to practise. There is an extra practice for the girls on Wednesday 20 November at lunchtime and they will need to bring the poi to school on Wednesday 20 and Thursday 21 November.
